Big stars are dropping like flies over the past couple days and it doesn't even seem to be drug related.
To recap (in case you have been living under a rock) Detroit-born Ed McMahon died on Tuesday at the age of 86. Farrah Fawcett died after a long battle with cancer at age 62. She of course was famous for being one of Charlie's Angels... and this evening - out of nowhere - the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, dies from a heart attack. Read more here. The scary part is he was only 50! These stars all had a huge impact on pop culture and will be strange without them in the news (especially Michael Jackson). Which of these stars had the biggest impact on you? Leave me a comment if you want to.
Tonight at work... my wonderful intern April Cook found a video of Taylor Swift rapping with T-Pain on a new song called Thug Story! The video is amazing!! Watch it here:
After resisting the latest social internet site (Twitter) for many months now... I caved into the pressure and I am officially a member. I know you are supposed to update it all the time... but I'm not sure I'm ready for the commitment just yet.
Anyway, be the first to check out my brand newTwitter page. Just search for AnnieSpears. I would love to hear from all of you Twitter pros. Let me know what you are doing. I'm excited to try the site out!
Also, if you don't have an account, it is easy to sign up. Please do!!! It should be fun! :)
Completely unrelated (but definitely worth mentioning), a video of President Obama killing a fly out of mid-air is ALL OVER the internet. It doesn't matter which political party you are from... I think we can all be proud of our President for his quick fly-swatting skills.
The Red Wings are soooo close to winning the Stanley Cup. I jumped on the hockey bandwagon a couple weeks ago when they began the final round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. I am excited for the Wings and I hope they win... but now I am tired of the suspense.
I think they should just play 5 games in a row, get a day off, then finish any games left in the series. The Tigers play games every day... why can't hockey be the same?
I still don't know if I am sold that a video game can be a productive workout... but I am coming around.
Nintendo has announced a new Wii Fit Plus. Added features include 15 new balance games which include juggling and skateboarding plus 5 new strength training activities. You can now tell the Wii which areas of the body you want to focus on and also determine the length of your workout to best fit your busy lifestyle.
If you have a Wii Fit... have you found that you are more inclined to work out with it than without it? Have you seen any results??? Like I said... I'm skeptical, but open to opinions.
Even if you don't have the Wii Fit... do you think the game is a good concept for getting in shape?
I really enjoyed this season of American Idol, however... now I am done with the drama and sillyness that is happening.
My favorite Idol this season was Kris Allen. I am glad he won. Adam Lambert was a little over the top for me... plus he wears more makeup than I do. However, I do think Adam is a very talented singer. With that said...
Recently in the news, Clay Aiken decided to make sure we knew he was still alive and that we had not forgotten him. He stated that one of Adam's performances "made his ears bleed". Yes, I agree, Adam hits some high, shrill notes, but for some reason, it seems wrong for Clay Aiken to be saying something like that. (I'm annoyed with Clay)
Clay later apologized, but Adam then one-upped Mr. Claynation himself by being classy and making Clay look like a bitter jerk. Well played Adam Lambert!
The moral of the story: Clay Aiken had his shining moments in the spotlight, but now he is a "has been". Time for him to go away (I think).
Let me know whose side you are on... Adam or Clay... or maybe you are over it.
I have to confess, I did not follow the Biggest Loser: Couples... but I know that many people did. I think I was afraid that I would feel the need to exercise more and eat healthy.... and I'm just not ready for the guilt of that. ANYWAY... the exciting news is that Helen Phillips, a 48-year-old mother of 2 from Sterling Heights, Michigan, lost more than half of her original bodyweight for a total of 140 pounds!!
Here's what she did it:
1) Quit her job to focus on her weight loss 2) Hire 3 personal trainers - work out beginning at 4:30AM (total of 6 hours per day) 3) Block all distractions or "friends" 4) Learn to love fish, veggies, and other health foods 5) Make fitness your life (be a fitness motivational speaker and open a health center)
Yeah! Sounds like fun! ...I think I will stick to being kind of healthy rather than suffer for the rest of my entire life without work, friends, and McDonalds! Who's with me????? :)
